SPS Only vs Mixed

Is there a benefit to setting up an SPS only tank to a mixed reef for SPS growth? I tried searching for articles, but nothing came up. I'd rather just run SPS only than use Carbon.

It's better to have an SPS dominated system or an LPS dominated system than it is to mix.

The reason is because SPS require clean water and LPS prefer more nutrients in the water.

You can mix both SPS and LPS but neither of them will thrive because you will need to find a happy medium to keep them both alive.

how about LPS consume all available nutrients, thus creating perfect conditions for SPS to thrive? It's better than algae eating up the excess nutrients.

There are plenty of thriving mixed tanks.. There are also plenty of thriving type-specific tanks. Do what you want; there is no right or wrong answer.
