Sps out of water

I know some coral reefs are exposed on low tide but wondering how long can you expose to air? Redoing landscape so wondering if 30 min is too long

I've kept pieces out for over 20 min, but the we're getting water poured on them every 5 minutes or so. None of them seemed to have any problems afterwards. That's just my experience.

The upper portion of some of mine are exposed for 10 minutes or so during water changes. They slime but I've never had any issues. I do turn off the lights when they are exposed fwiw. My buddy does complete system water changes and his are exposed for a good 20 to 30 minutes. Lots of slime but no losses. Again...lights off. I would keep them in a tub or trashcan w tank water if I were you though.

I brought a stag and a huge cap home once for a few hours. They lived, but took a while to recover.

The bigger issue is how they are going to like their new placement. They grew into the flow and lighting where they were... expect some die off as they transition to their new homes if you move them very far.

Just had a similar conversation about how long SPS corals can be out of water for acclimating to a new tank and someone posted this photo.

I got in a car chase with my buddies stolen car while bringing a nice size colony home.
Had it Ina. Bucket, bucket fell over and my colony was out of water for almost 20-25 minutes. Recovered within a week and is growing wonderfully now!

I would not let the fact that corals in nature sustain low tide for hours serve as advice to you that it's okay to let the corals in your tank go through a similar treatment!... But if they're healthy to begin with they are more likely to endure the stress of a spell out of water in your system

Two days ago I have Power outage at night time, I have a apex controller set up so when This happens to send me a email or text wish it did but I was sleeping and I put my cell on do not disturb mode !!
Anyways I wake up at 5:15 to go to work and I walked by by tank and I notice that everything was super quiet I check up my tank and I saw my frag rack out of the water since the power outage trip my tank breaker my water level drop under my frag rack water level I freak out thinking that everything my be lost I restart the system and I left to work thinking the worse!
I was checking my apex history and I pull al the data from the graphs and the power history to find out for how long my tank was off.

I found out that my tank was with out power since 2:52 am
OVER TWO HOURS WITH OUT RECIRCULATION AND WITH MY FRAG RACK SPOST TO AIR.
I did wanted to wake up the wife to check on it but she will kill me and kill my corals if I wake her up :)
I called my wife around 8 am to see if my corals were ok, she did and no mayor damage happened I couldn't believe so after home I rush to see my tank and I looks like nothing really happened there just few bleach tip on a bird nest but but that it!!
I have Millis tables caps al kind of Different corals on that racks and I didn't loose any !!

I was lucky
I don't know how or why they made it but they did I can show you my apex history and pictures:)

DON'T TRY IT!!!:)
