SPS PE question

The two acro's I have in my system do not have great PE. Does it take them awhile as frags to get happy? I checked my prams and they seem fine, I'll post new ones tomorrow. My Blue Stag is showing tiny polyps that are a vivid blue, a bit of white has formed on the side of one of its branches that I think to be a bit of growth. The tabling Acro's only showing tiny polyps on the dark pink side, the lighter sides polyps seem to be very withdrawn all the time.

As a newbie, just wondering if it takes a while for them to get happy.
the three Montis I have are crazy happy, but they are easy.

I depends on the acro. I think flow has a ton to do with it And them being happy. What fish are in your system?

i just recently broke a tank down and set it back up.
used same rock, lights, etc.
going on a week now with very little PE for my acros.

as long as it is not bleaching or receding, i would give it more time.

1 five line Cardinal fish
1 black snow flack ORA clown
1 snow flake ORA clown
1 pep shrimp

I got both of them back at the last Corner reef pizza night. They have color, and don't seem to be bleaching. I'll just try and forget about them for a few months and let them chill on the frag rack.
I was hoping to get some nice Acros at the swap but I think I'm going to focus on montis, crazy exotic acans, and a really cool chalice or two.

There don't seem to be a ton of SPS at the swap - maybe because they aren't as popular or don't travel as well. However, there always seem to be a few member tanks that have SPS at nice prices. I'll have a small tank with SPS at this swap also.

If you want the SPS look with something easier then you might want to try the branching montis as those grow up and out but are very easy to maintain. You can get orange, green, and blue digitatas and the red/orange setosas also look good.

Some acros can take a while to get used to the tank before they take off. That tabling acro you have should color up on the white side and will probably encrust quite a bit before it starts to grow up.

And birdsnest are another type of SPS that grow very fast and seem very resilient.

I'm going to take your advice on the branching montis and birds nest. From what I have read they seem to be the next step in learning SPS, I may have jumped far ahead with the Acros. My next equipment upgrade will be an APEX.
I'm in the market for a used MH set for my 40 gallon frag tank. If I can get that running before the swap I'm going to fill it up, if not I'll have to wait for the next one.

Well, your acros are alive and seem to not have fully acclimated yet. So, you are doing great at everything except the patience part.

Just sit back and relax while your acros get settled in.

Heard your Acros are pretty stellar, any idea what you're bringing and what your going to ask for them?

I removed the kessil 150wide 14k on Monday. I just always noticed all the corals retract when it came on. The tank seem much happier. SPS PE is about doubled and the blues in my acans has returned. I think that it's just way to bright for such a small light.
