It' a subtle change and perhaps it isn't really noticeable for a few weeks after aqcuisition but some of my SPS (namely a Blue Millepora and a neon green polyped birdsnest) slowly seem to be losing their bright coloration. The corals are all very healthy with great polyp extension and young growth tips, they just seem to be lacking that Umph! that made me purchase them.
It's a 120 mixed reef with a medium fish load. I have (2) 250W MH (12K) and (2) T5's (actinics). The MH's are close to the top of the tank because of the canopy...maybe too bright? Could the MH's be washing out the colors a bit?
Chemistry is fine...calc 410, alk 3.6, PH 8.2.
DSB...fuge with RDP...good skimmer...coralline growing...temp 77-78.5...(2) tunzes for flow (lot's of flow)...
On the other hand, could this all be in my head? The corals look good and healthy...they just seem a little washed out.
Anyone have any info. or experience?
