Sps problems

I have had my tank for 2 years now and added a green slime acro frag. It is starting to lose tissue and reveal the skeleton. I have 4 39 watt T5 bulbs on the 30 gallon. The acro is in the middle under flow from my protein skimmer. SG is 1.024. I will list all my other parameters tomorrow after I test again. Last friday my ammonia was high, but I did a 20% water change to help. Thanks for the help. I hope I gave enough info.

Your ammonia was high on a 2 yo tank???? Did you have a massive die off only moments before you tested you water? Is the tissue loss only in one specific part of the frag like say in the path of the water current. Really need to see all params and a pic of the coral to really give any advice.

Okay there are a couple of spots. I think the test was weird so I need to test again. No I didn't have a massive die off, I haven't lost fish in quite a while. No not just in the path of the water, it is 2 or 3 random spots on it.

If there was ammonia that could very well be the problem. Also i think your salinity is a little low i would raise it slowly to 1.026

I think I found the problem. I have a galaxy coral about 6 inches to the right of the acro that has the tissue loss. Could the galaxy coral be stinging the acro? I am doing my water tests now so I will post them when I finish.

HECK YA it can. Mine is in the corner of my tank away from everything else because i have seen sweepers around 1 foot long before.

I didn't even think about it until I looked at the tank again. I checked the water again and everything was good.
