SPS Robertus netherlands 50 G

2008 has been an extremely good year for this 50 g tank.
I want to thank all the readers and members of REEF CENTRAL for their positive and constructive reactions.

This tank was choosen in 2008 for TOTM and DTOTQ at other forums and I want to thank all the readers at REEF CENTRAL who also gave their vote.

I have really enjoyed this year.

I want to wish everybody a happy new year and hope for a healthy, happy 2009.

Robertus,

As others have said, your tank is TRULY an inspiration to owners of smaller tanks. Mine is a 60 gallon 36"Lx16"Wx24"H... I've had varied results though mostly successful through the years and most recently had a crash and am now in the rebuilding/restocking phases.

I absolutely LOVE the colors and the selections of the pieces you've chosen to keep in your tank. So many can have a "nice tank" meaning healthy and such but it's entirely another thing to be so meticulous about the choices one makes in selecting the livestock that we put into our tanks.

With my crash this year I have vowed to be just as meticulous and am striving to assemble a beautiful display similar to yours and a few others here at Reef Central!

I wish you continued success with your tank and look forward to similar success of my own this year!

You've got me SERIOUSLY considering going full Zeo....

I recently ordered Sponger Power and Phol's Extra and Potassium test kit but the more I think about it the more I'm thinking... ZEO, ZEO, ZEO!!!

Hi all,

Within a few months I will start a new tank.
The old tank will be shut down and only the best corals moved to my new tank.

The new tank will have the same dimensions exept that it will be somewhat deeper. The dimensions will be 1.2 m x 40 cm x 80 cm (deep).

It will be a different tank with a difficult tree like rockscape, filled with a lot of corals but with a lot more open space around this rockscape.

I will update about this tank when the project takes shape.

Grt,

Robertus.

Sweet tank.

I saw on Zeovit that you said you are using a "BB intern 180" Protein Skimmer. (What is BB?) Is that a skimmer that is only avail in the EU or does it go by another name (manufacturers name)? Maybe it goes by another name here in the U.S.

BK is Bubble King from the great german skimmer manufacturer Royal exclusiv.

Some pictures.

This tank is loaded with small gobies, here you can see one always living in this acropora.

This last and final picture gives an impression how small this tank really is.

Robertus

How do you manage to keep the gravel or sand bed so clean? I always have some cyno on mine.

I noticed that you have alot of gobbies, do you find they keep algae down?

Thanks
Kevin

Stunning. Absolutely STUNNING! I love the look of crammed and packed tanks like yours even though it is not the latest "trend". It's tanks like these that get that explosion of colors that you have achieved. Please tell us how you have your colonies mounted on your rock. Do you use epoxy, superglue, or some other mounting methods? Do you ever have corals falling on top of each other? I want to mimick your aquascaping method so I'd be grateful to hear some advice. Thanks

We are building the new tank at this moment and I have many plans to make it a very special one.
I want to take the rockscape to a new level.

When it is ready I will show the results here on RC.

Grt,

Robertus.

It's such a nice tank with lots of dedication. I don't understand why this hasn't made TOTM on RC? I could never have my sps that packed, man thats a lot of work.:D

Hi all,

From now on I will use this thread for my new tank.

This new tank will have the same dimensions as the old one but it will be somewhat deeper. 1.20 X 40 X 80cm deep.
The lights will be HQI in combination with T5.

At this moment we are building this tank and I will post the details as soon as I am ready.

In this new tank I want to create an extreme rockscape. This rockscape will be completely covered with all kinds of corals just like the old one, but around it there will be lots of open space.

The basis of this rockscape will be a bridge. From this bridge overhanging arms will go in all directions. I have started building this bridge with dead rocks because scaping can be done more accurately.
This is what came out and I will attach more arms when the tanks is ready.
