SPS slowly turning brown.

Guys, the leather probably isn't the issue. I've had multiple leathers in my 125 with my SPS and all have done well. The main thing is to just make sure you don't put them too close together.

the every other day dosing could be causing Alk and Ph swings as well, i would split the 30ml in half and do 15ml everyday, this would help to keep PH and Alk more in check...make sure you test your ALk and Ca while you make any adjustments to help keep things stable

OK, but one question that has not been asked is if he is running carbon. IMO most reefers that keep leathers and SPS corals together also run carbon to neutralize the chemical warfare.

His css65 skimmer is to small for the tank and sump volume he has especially if it is a heavily stocked tank, that skimmer is rated for 65g max with out sps load factor

Yes, I do run carbon. I have a bag of it placed in my filter sock. I also have a phosban reactor that i run kent marine phospate sponge. If I upgrade to a better skimmer, what would you all suggest for my load and water volume. Be reasonable, I know they can get ridiculous in price. But, besides the skimmer what else?

For what its worth, don't know if this will help you all, but I run my lights as follows. 2pm Both T5s kick on, at 4pm Both 250watt MH kick on , At 12am. MH kick off, and at 2am T5s Kick off. I also have it set where at 1am one of my Koralia PHs turn off until 1pm the next day. Should I adjust any of these settings?
