What do your temps hang at? Also, I guess what is your ambient room temperature as well? All I'll have running in the tank is all the stock equipment with a vortech mp10 when it comes in a couple weeks so I don't think equipment heat will be too bad. Just trying to figure out if I need a chiller (which would suck).

Thanks everyone!

There this no particular reason why the one clam is on its side, I have have propped it up time and time again but it always goes to its side. I even tried to build a little "nest" out of LR rubble to prevent it from going to its side, but that didn't work either...haha...it seems fine though. I have had it for over a year and it is growing well.

As far as my temperature goes, my ambient room temperature is normally between 70-74 F and the tank temperature is normally between 78-82 F. I have no chiller and no fan, however, my 250 watt MH is approximately 10 inches above the surface of the water.

I hope this helps, thanks again!

awesome stuff man.
i had forgotten about this thread.
most likely i'll be trying that plastic floor/bottom soon
can't stand the sand getting really dirty and cyno problems
I'll post some pics of my stuff soon.
the one year anni is coming up.

JGross,

Can you tell me what the pieces of hardware are that are holding the tubing into the your lid for this? And how you drilled/installed them?

So would you recommend the Sapphire skimmer over the Tunze? Start issues aside...just considering performance while they were running?

Amazing little tank you have ;)

Hey everyone!

TriggerHappyDude: They are threaded push-fit 1/4" plastic tubing bulkheads. This is where i purchased them... Bulkhead

JustinReef: Yes, but the sapphire skims a little wet. I raised mine and extra 1/4" with a piece of acrylic and that fixed the problem.

Anyway, here are a few updated pictures. Also I got a few new fish and a couple corals, you'll be able to spot them in a few of the pictures! ;)

Thanks!

Wow! Looking great!

One last question about the Sapphire skimmer. I think its obvious from your pictures but it doesn't stick out of the top at all does it? Looks like its completely hidden.

Thanks :)

Thanks Justin, and you're right. The skimmer does not stick out from behind the filter wall at all, it is completely hidden.

Thanks again!

Thanks JGross, I'll purchase a few of those, exactly what I've been looking for.

What are you using for where you have the two dosing tubes mounted in the back of the tank? Is it the same two fixtures as you showed me above? I need to rig something where my ATO tube water can be secured to drip into the 3rd chamber, I was thinking if those same bulkheads would work, I could drill one into the side where you have your two dosing bulkheads (or whatever they are) and thats where I could put my ATO tube. What do you have going on there?

Thanks everyone!

Felix1021: I actually cut and adhered a 1/8" thick piece of black acrylic to the back wall of the tank. This way I can clean it with a scraper just as I clean the glass.

Nerdy Nudi: I am actually embarrassed to admit that I do not even own a nitrate test kit anymore. I only test for calcium, alkalinity, and magnesium once a month. I would assume it is close to zero, but Im not sure. Sorry Nudi.

TriggerHappyDude: I am using these fittings...Fitting

I simply drilled two holes in the divider and then threaded the fittings into it. The plastic of the divider is soft enough for the fittings to thread in without being tapped. I had to widen the hole with a small file until i could get it to the perfect size.

Heres a few pictures (old pictures)...

Question: The tank is bare bottom with a 1/4" piece of white starboard covering the bottom glass. Where can i find this and is it put inside the tank bottom or underneath the tank? i just wanna clear it to know what you did. :)

I remember reading somewhere that you used black silicone sealant to attach the black acrylic piece to the back wall of the tank? What brand did you use and where did you get it? Been reading a lot about GE I & II Silicone sealant (good and bad reviews on both) that you can get from Home Depot/Lowes and was wondering if you used the same thing...?
