SPS Warfare - Losing Colonies Due to RTN

I've lost 3 colonies to coral wars. Once was that an acro frag dropped on the pink birdsnest colony and from that wound tissue detaching quickly spread to the whole colony. I saved a few pieces while only the ones cut far from the wound/detaching area survived. Today my ORA insignis colony touched my sunset Mille colony and within 12 hours the whole colonies are now gone. I was able to save some intact pieces of both corals since I noticed it early.

This just puzzles me. It's definitely not a coral disease. I regularly cut frags of corals and they never develop something like this from an open wound. I feel they injected each other some lethal chemicals that basically made the whole thing to detach and develop RTN.

What if my corals attach each other again? I have some corals touching but mostly when an acro is attaching another stony, the other one develops RTN. That's just terrible to think about.

Does anyone have the same experience?

In my case, when SPS touch each other, most of the time there is dead tissue exactly where they touch. But never seen, in my short 2 years with SPS, spreading to the full colony.

Sometimes both SPS are affected in the touching area, or only one of the 2 is affected.

I am talking about Acros, Monti, Bird nest.

I have not had an acro RTN due to touching things....tissue lost but gained back over time. I have had a ricordea detach itself and get stuck on a green acro....lots died but not the entire thing.

I have only seen RTN on a already stressed acro.
