I've lost 3 colonies to coral wars. Once was that an acro frag dropped on the pink birdsnest colony and from that wound tissue detaching quickly spread to the whole colony. I saved a few pieces while only the ones cut far from the wound/detaching area survived. Today my ORA insignis colony touched my sunset Mille colony and within 12 hours the whole colonies are now gone. I was able to save some intact pieces of both corals since I noticed it early.
This just puzzles me. It's definitely not a coral disease. I regularly cut frags of corals and they never develop something like this from an open wound. I feel they injected each other some lethal chemicals that basically made the whole thing to detach and develop RTN.
What if my corals attach each other again? I have some corals touching but mostly when an acro is attaching another stony, the other one develops RTN. That's just terrible to think about.
Does anyone have the same experience?
