Squamosas and Derasas under VHOs

Will a Squamosa and Derasa be fine under 220VHO, 10,000k bulb and 6,500k bulb? 12 from sand bed to water surface, so less the 12" from mantel to surface.

I also add 2ml of phyto feast daily.

Oh also I was wondering if it would be okay to place either on a rock as opposed to a sand bed to make it closer to the VHOs

I have a Derasa who was just having the time of his life under my PC's...so they'll definetly do fine under VHOs .....the time of his life..until my angel fish started to ''take'' to him..for more infor about that see the post about the angel fish

How long was he "having the time of his life"?

I have heard that it can take a long time for a clam to die under inadiquate lights (Reef Inverts, by calfo).

I am just worried for the health of my clams, I am considering of getting another 220 VHO or 2x54 T5

I asked this question in the reef forum and I got a few people saying no problem with 220, but I really am concerned because I don want these things dieing on me.

Next month I could get them another 220watt VHOs, but I think halides are out of the question unless I can get one for under 200$

Well, you don't need halides unless you want maximas and croceas. And yeah, it would be more than $200, even used.

But if you want a derasa or squamosa, 440 is no problem. I've known tons of people that have kept them under 440. I've never heard of anyone try under 220 so I don't have an answer, but my gut feeling is that would be a little low.
