Squeaky MP40

I bought a used mp40 about 3 years ago, and there is now a high pitched, squeaky sound (sounds like Christmas Vacation-it's not a squirrel :)). This is not a sound due to poor alignment of dry side with the wet side, although this mp40 has a much louder humming sound than my other one.

Any ideas what could be causing this noise? I can try and capture the sound on video if that might help.

Mine makes that high pitched squeal when a snail gets the propellor stuck and the shaft spins. Im sure you would notice if the propeller stopped though. Might be the wetside going bad.

Thanks for the reply, but no snail. How long do these powerheads last? Could it just be too old and it's done?

Check your magnet. My Vortechs were making noise no matter how I tried to align them. My magnets are cracked and rusty, they also swell causing vibration and noise. All this only after 14 months of using. I spoke to their customer service and I am sending those back.Hope they will take care of this. It would be a shame if I had to pay for this only two months after warranty expired.I would thing those magnets should be sealed so they don't crack and rust. Here are couple of pics.
