Stages of Clownfish clutch

MBC2012

life gets better daily
We just had our 2nd clutch born in the last 10ish days. First batch was weeded out and eventually all eaten. Can someone tell me what the stages and colors of those stages?
The first batch we found when they where silver with what looked like eyes. This batch is younger.

I took pics of my eggs on various days in this thread

This is awesome the information is very helpful. Is your pair in the tank alone? Are you just pulling the tile out and placing it in a nursery tank?

Our pair are hosting an BT anemone in a clay flower pot and I am not sure who/when to remove the eggs. Do the eggs need the pair to hatch?

Any additional information will be greatly appreciated.

glad it helped, my pair is in my 75 gal that most people would say is over stocked (don't mind the sig. it isn't updated in a while) however I never get a reading of nitrates phosphates ect so I leave it at that lol but is a peaceful community.

the tile I pull out the night they are gonna hatch which is usually on day 8 and place them in a 10 gal tank with about 4 gal. of water from the parents tank, they don't need the parents to hatch just movement over the eggs. IME that is the tricky part when first doing it, you want enough air bubbles over the eggs to keep them in motion but not to much to damage them. try to leave them with the parents as long as possiable though as the dad will keep the eggs in good health and pick off the ones that die so they don't infect the others.

some people say not to feed for the 1st 24 hours however I put some rotifers in the tank the next morning when I strain out my culture and tint the water slighty green, it has worked out good for me so far. my last hatch that happened on friday night produced alot of fry, and not alot of die off.

I have always ran my lights on, 15 on and 9 off schedual and it didn't seem to harm anything some say to leave the lights off for the 1st 24 hours though.

any suggestion on how i can get them out of the tank before hatching? I think i would need to remove them from the pot as taking the pot and BTA would really upset the pair. I have read that a method of removal is to scoop them up the night they hatch. If i have to try this route I will but it seem like it might be difficult. The tank is a 75gal mixed reef that is overstocked and awaiting upgrade.

This is the second clutch, happened faster then we thought so we care not yet ready for a nursery.

What't the temp of your nursery tank? Our reef tank is at 81.9....

Which is actually high of us. I just noticed this. We usually at the tank at 78. I wonder when the temp went up and if that is why they have started to breed?

oh sorry, forget the last post. if the bta is attached to the pot there really wouldn't be a good way to remove them except to catch them as they hatch. to do this turn off all flow to the tank the night they will hatch right after the lights go out, turn on a dim flashlight in a corner of the tank thet is easily to reach, (at the top of the tank) the fry are attracted to the light. then scoop them out with a bowl or cup gently and transfer them. it will take a few times but you will get most of them.

I have never tried this way, only read it. this was the reason for the tile, it is easily removable.

I do basicly the same as Shifty but I do leave my light on 24/7 for the first 3 days then 14 hours after that.

What do you think of me removing the pair and BTA and placing them in their own tank?
What type of clowns are you breeding?
We got our pair from Alpha Aquaculture about 18ms ago. The female is a Premium Fancy Snowflake and he is a Premium Black Ice.

Placing them in there own tank is an option but keeo in mind that when you move a breeding pair it will take a while for them to start laying again. I have even heard that some even completly stop, however it is rare.

I am breeding just your normal ocy's right now.

Thanks for the word of warning. I think I already new that - but I was hoping. I will set things up and keep an eye out for the hatch.

Yes temp rise can trigger them to spawn but you need the eggs to be at about 81-82. lower than 79 can delay the hatching by as much as 2-3 days. And will take longer for them to go through meta.

Our pair are pending sale. This is very happy news to us as we are not set up for breeding and I hate the idea of the pair working hard just to product fish food. Figure they start breeding as we ready for our tank upgrade and have zero time!
