stand / sump area lighting

I did Amazon led strip inside. With remote control. Didn't care for colors as I close stand.

So does this switch on when you open the door? I have no idea why, but I am totally hung up on that idea LOL.

DH went to Home Depot and Menards today while I was at work (he is on staycay, lucky guy)...no Lowe's by us...no luck in either place for magnetic switches. I think I am actually going to order the entire rig from the company that I posted the previous youtube vid from. total should be around $50. Kinda spendy...and it will only respond to one of my two doors, so I'll have to remember which door to open to turn on the light. I guess I can handle that, as long as I don't have to flip a switch :rolleye1:

my lowes selection of under-counter lights was pitiful. even the employee there was like ashamed, basically was complaining how understocked they were, lol. Fortunately i did get what i needed at home depot...but it wasn't cheap...$30 woulda been nice, lol....will need to take some pics once i get it installed.

Hey LXXero, just wondering what part of CO your in?

I purchased a wireless RF for it. I can turn it on from 15 feet away or dim it. I thought I wanted the switch for door but relize I didn't need it to turn on all the time.

So...I got them installed tonight. I WAS able to use the 24v apex accessory port to drive them! Awesome! I still need to tidy up some wiring, but I took a video to show it all working.

Never mind that it's not a reef tank in this video, i'm going to be doing the same thing on my 60 cube reef downstairs! lol...

OK so I did the magnetic door switch thing with my apex too. Came out nicely, but one gotcha, I did have to use the official power supply for those LEDs, using the apex 24v with that 12v step down - for some reason, it wouldn't consistently "remember" the last on state, like it's supposed to. But it did work with the official driver, so i'm guessing this "Feature" somehow is tied back to their official power supply, so you can't use just any 12v, it has to be this thing. Oh well. It remembers the last state now at least. I still have 1 free outlet on my apex, lol. Was hoping to have two, but, the next device i try, it'll be something a little more "dumb" so I don't have this issue...

of course i had to do a video of the magnetic door, this is just too ridiculous, lol. I feel like this tank is now beyond the level of absurdly over technical, but it's all been in good fun.

apex code was super easy too,
Fallback OFF
Set OFF
If Sw5 OPEN Then ON
