Star fish ID

Can anybody ID this starfish. It was found on the surf of holden beach NC. I put it back but any info would be nice to have. Including any aquarium potiential.

Whats the rule about not exposing them to air? Lol guess this fellow is a goner.

If its not left out in the air and sun for a long time it's fine.

Mine died and it was taken out the water for a second!!

I think that star fish can be exposed to air. When I acclimated mine and put it in, it was not exposed to air, but I see it going above the water line all the time, so I think air is fine for it.

Exposure to air did not kill it.
