Starfish help

I have a sand sifting starfish. I purposely high dosed the tank with Mg to help with algae, 3 teaspoons a day raising 18.3 ppm. When the Mg got above 1500 ppm the star and a snail got stressed. I turned them upright and did a water change and the Mg dropped to 1380 ppm.
The snail has revived.
The star seems lifeless, not moving.
Not decaying but I picked it up several times and saw the center bottom orface open & close.
How can I tell if its dead?
If not is there anything I can do other than wait? :sad2:
Thanks

it will start deteriorating when it dies, you will know by looking at it. Raising mag works with bryopsis, but adversely effects inverts as you found out.

Starfish is ALIVE!

Starfish is ALIVE!

The starfish recovered. It is moving again. Hurah!
Lesson learned don't OD your tank with Mg!

Star is doing extremly well, he is traveling places in the tank I have never seen him go before!
Maybe Randy's dosing has partly to do with it? :-)
