Hi all

Could you please help ID this star?

It is less than 1.5 inches wide and the LFS advised that it would not get any bigger and is reef compatible.

See picture below

Cheers, Tim

Not sure what it is.
Piece of advice, though: if the person telling you a thing can make money by telling you the thing, RESEARCH first.
I doubt it'll do well. Most non-brittle stars don't do well at all, they starve to death. Worse than mandarins.

Fromia milleporella, starves in unestablished systems as they only eat invisible bio-film algea. They only get 3" in diameter and being diet specific they won't harm anything else.

Some people told me they would create a film outbreak by blowing food particles around the tank but I can only imagine how their skimmer is doing and nitrate levels are.

Just generally not a good star to try and keep.

Get a clearer pic and post it in your own thread. Small but clear is better than large but fuzzy. Looks like a fanworm type thing, could be something else.

I can't see very well because of the aforementioned blur but my guess would be aiptasia if you want to google that and she if it's a match.

If you want someone to ID a thing in your tank, post a thread with that title. That way, knowledgeable people will know they're needed there. Starfish have very little to do with whatever that is.
