Starfish on Crocea Shell

I recently purchased my first clam and when I got it home I discovered a little starfish attached to the shell. I removed it and put it in my refugium. Is there some kind of parasitic starfish that is known for infesting clams? Was it just a gentle hitchhiker?

probably asterina star, most are harmless algae eaters. could you post a pic? what color was he?

if it is i have at least 100 of them in my tank and several clams.
