Starfish problem need help.

Somebody is attacking your star. TAKE THE STAR, AND PUT HIM IN THE SUMP--He'll be safe there...

As for the pH. Testing the pH with a test kit is completely useless IMO... The pH swings throughout the day, sometimes more than 0.5 pH in a few hours. If you really want to check the pH, get a digital pH monitor, and you'll be able to see how the pH changes over the course of the day...

You might have a new and unwelcomed addition to your tank--any new rocks?

Or--some baddy is showing himself for the first time...

Any other inverts disappear over the past few months??

Isolate the Star, for his own good...

good luck

Steve

I put the star in a nother tank for now. I have not noticed any snails missing. He is not happy but still fat and moving around, just not as much. No new rocks. I would think what ever it was would have grabed the little high fin goby but hes still sassy as ever. Man I hate crabs I never added any to the tank. Took a few out of the LR when I first bought it though. A friend suggested maybe a mantis shrimp but why now why only the star. I watched the tank for a long time last night again and nothing unusual showed. Maybe I should put something out for bait and se what happens.
Thanks for all the tips
