Starfish quarantine

I want to get a sand sifting start fish for my dt but my qt tank is not up and running yet do I have to quarantine the star fish before adding it

I would think twice about adding a sand sifting starfish to your tank unless it is a very large established tank. They will quickly eat through your entire sandbed and then starve to death.

Yep. Not a good addition unless you have a very large, hundreds of gallons, system. Plus they stay submerged most of the time if they are eating well. They are neat but will likely affect your tank negatively by stripping the sand bed of fauna and then starving.

How big is the tank. My personal recommendation is one nassarius snail per 10 gallons. 1 fighting conch per 50 gallons and one brittle star per 50.

I would not get a sand sifting starfish in any tank less then 220 gallons minimum.280 gallons would be better TBQH.

You should get 1 pink fancy brittle starfish instead, make sure NOT to get a green,it will eat your clownfish.

2 nassarius snail should help you sand bed, also turbo snails help with certain algae :)
