starfish say hello to mp40

I was feeding the fish and saw my starfish wrapped up in the mp40,
needless to say he lost a couple digits. what's left of him seems to be ok. I might have to make him a walker out of acrylic.

I wonder if those sponge covers they sell for the mp40's would stop that from happening.

I lost my 2 year old copper banded butterfly today while working on my tank. Turned of a modded maxi jet pump, he must have gotten to close to it when I turned it back on and I didn't notice for half hour that he was stuck to it. Died shortly after I left him loose

The Tunzes have these rock-shaped housing covers. I've been wondering if these are effective at preventing such incidents.

This might be too late :sad1 but, I was told that they will grow other legs when they lose them and that each of the legs that were taken off, will grow another starfish. If you are able to salvage the other legs, put them in your tank and see if anything happens. Like I said, it might be too late for them or maybe they got chopped up but I just wanted to pass along the info that I had been told.
Good luck. Those are soo cool looking, it's too bad.
