Starfish

While fraging a few Zoanthids I uncovered two brittle starfish. I have not been able to find my digital camera so I will have to describe them. Their bodies are black with tanish collored arms, on the arms they have a black stripe about every 1/8 of an inch. They are small, one probably has a leg diameter of a qaurter, the other about the diameter of a 50 cent piece. I have them out of the tank in seperate collection cups. I want to determine if they will harm my corals before I return them to the tank. Any idea what they may be. I am going to research them, just wanted to post them here first.

Hey Steven they are micro brittle stars more than likely. They are probably thick in your tank if you have any. They are a good thing! I'm gonna call you tomorrow if that's cool?

Yeppers, I'm another vote for these being beneficial detritivores, micro brittle stars.
