Starphire glass

I'm trying to decide whether to order a tank with starphire glass or not. The difference in price is $100. The glass thickness will be 3/8 inches... regular glass can add a bit of a green tint, but starphire glass is clear (so I have been told) and therefore shows more true colors. The difference between the two at this particular glass thickness may be marginal however. Having never seen the two side by side, I don't have any way to make such a judgement and am having a hard time deciding. Does anyone have a tank with starphire glass?

My experience is that the thicker the glass the more evident the green tint becomes. My old 225 is starphire on three sides and I have always thought it was crystal clear. I have it waiting on a new home if you wanted to come by and see it Jay.

Side by side there is a definate diff. For just a $100 id def go with the starphire. where are you gettint the new tank from?

Is it Starfire or low-iron glass? Starfire is a brand I believe. Remember that low-iron glass is also softer and more easily scratched. If you want true clarity go with acrylic. Of course acrylic is very scratch prone also.

Glass cages had some of both at the Nashville frag swap last year and you can sure tell the diff. when they are side by side. They had a demo of the glass.

I just did a 95g 36 24 25 and the difference in the front and the back is very evident. It is so worth it, and in the end its only 100 bucks extra.

Looks like a decent difference to me
