starphire???

does any shop in the bay area build cutomized starphire tanks?

I'm not sure, but I do know that there are two tank builders in the bay area. I found on in San Jose and the other one.... I can't remember where. Call Tapplastic's in San Mateo and ask them. The know the names and locations for the builders.

I was just driving down Industrial in San Carlos yesterday and saw a big sign for custom aquariums on a glass place. I'll look for the name and post it here. hopefully I'll get it tomorrow.

Unfortunatly, that is only his name now, and not his type of business. his insurance company won't insure any aquarium work any longer.

Any store can order a custom Oceanic Starphire tank for you.

Is there any local shops that can get low iron glass? Or is that pretty much a rarity in the glass business outside of aquariums?

Most glass places can get it. Problem is, you need to know all the common/trade names. Starphire and Low Iron are just a few.

Tap Plastics? that's acrylic, Starphire is some kind of super clear glass (not green tinged)

Diamonte is the name brand that I am familiar with from my glass supplier. They are just a couple of blocks from my shop in the SF Bayview. The name is Beveled Glass and they are at 415.822.1161. Many local glass shops send their thicker orders to these guys, but they will sell to the general public as well. They specialize in thick glass and have a huge waterjet and polishing machines to create everything you need for your aquarium kit except some silicone and some cojones.

I briefly toyed with the idea of building my own before chickening out and opting to have LeeMar in San Diego build it.
