i have an ich outbreak and i need help. i move my last fish the flame angel and it died. so now all my fish is in the qt tank. how should i treat my main tank. should i clean the main tank, put new substrate and new water all over again or should i leave my main tank for 6 or 7 weeks without fish?

ich without host (fish) will die out on its own. Just leave your main tank fishless for 8-10 weeks, that should do it.

i am with loyalty, leave the fish out, work on rockwork and corals. Then when the fish are back in it it will be even more magnificent.

8 week waiting period....I had to go through the same thing....but...you'll have outrageous pod growth and you can add corals and inverts to the tank without any issues.....now I have TONS of life and can add all those fish people say you shouldn't add unless you have enough life to support them

8 to 10 weeks is over kill IMHO 6-8 weeks is the norm.....ohhh and Im in the process of a "fishless" tank and the pods are crazy!

leave the fish out, get a uv sterilizer and you should not have anymore problems when the fish go back in.

I used uv and did not remove the lone fish. Waited 6-8 weeks to add more fish. Have never had ick again.
