After having saltwater in tank for 24 hrs when we put the sand and rock into the tank it sprang a leak! We quickly moved everything into a bin and tried to fix the tank.
Richard was fantastic and offered to take the package back until we were ready again, unfortunately we didn't have time to get it back.
We broke down and just bought a new tank the next day instead of waiting to see it the sealant would hold.
My son want a turtle so I can always use it for that.

Octopus

Octopus

What do you do with an octopus? We can see it in the hole. It seems to never come out. We have been on our gorilla crab hunts with mixed success. They are hard to get out of all the holes but I am sure that is what has been eating our barnacles. I think we found all the whelks but everyday another seems to show up. We have at least 3 porcelain crabs, several limpets, spaghetti worms, feather dusters, and several small crabs that I have yet to identify. We spend hours watching the tank. Algae is starting to grow and we doing less water changes. I think our mishap set us back.

The octopus looks like it has eggs. Does anyone have any info on what if anything I suppose to do?
I am an extreme newbie to salt tanks.
Current tank: 29 Gal Biocube

The mother octopus has died, I have since found out this is normal. There are several eggs in a cave on the live rock but it is too small to see much. Meanwhile I have finally gotten my tank on the right path and the ammonia has broke. I think the many transfers killed too much and I finally took everything out and inspected it, removed the dead stuff and put it back together. We found a hermit crab today and 2 bristle worms. I have no clue if they are good or bad, have to do a web search. I am truly amazed that everyday we find something else. We have gotten an old magnifying glass and search for stuff all the time. Hey who needs fish!

Sorry to hear about your loses but you will continue to find things as you move forward. Have you received your part 2 yet? Keep us advised on what's going on and good luck!

Part 2

We haven't gotten part 2 yet. The tank has finally cycled it took a while but we are finally there! I have to email Richard and work a time.
We can't wait.
Thanks for the interest.

Part 2 WAS AWESOME!!!!

We got part two last night and set it up. There is so much rock, whips, sponges, everything you can imagine!!! The tank is full! It has so much we may not need fish. Here is the tank as of today. THANKS TO RICHARD!! This is by far the easiest way to start in salt. My Kids love it. What a great experience.
