Starting a 24 gallon nano cube

I'm relatively new to the hobby (running a 90 gallon for about a year now), and I'm getting ready to start a JBJ Nano Cube 24.

My question is, if I use water from my 90 with some fresh saltwater (80/20), and live sand and cured live rock from LFS, should I expect a cycle?

Using "live" sand will be of little or no use and may actually cause a cycle, so use dry sand. Using water from your 90 gallon tank will neither help or hurt the new tank. The great unknown is the live rock. If it is truely fully cycled, you keep it wet during transportation from the store to your home and you use dry (washed) sand you will not have a cycle. If the rock has not been fully cycled then you will have a cycle.

I'm pretty confident the rock I'm planning to buy will be fully cycled. This particular LFS has thousands of pounds of live rock in stock all the time. Plus, I'm planning on buying mostly rubble (he has several huge troughs of it) which has been there for quite a while ($1 per pound for the rubble). He calls it rubble, but much of it is nicely sized for a small tank.

As for the sand, I hadn't even given any thought to using dry sand. I don't even know if any of the LFS's near me carry it. What type of sand would I be looking for?
