Starting a 3 gallon, need help.

will a neon form a partnership with a pistol shrimp?

no, only shrimp gobies will. A neon is a cleaner type fish, picking parasites off other fish. the neons are very pretty tho. neons arent the only species who can live in there tho, you can only have 1 fish, but can look into the genuses of Trimma, Gobiodon, Elacatinus, and Eviota. as a side note all these fish are small gobies.

Thank you moon.
These are all the fish I like the most out of all those genuses:

I put all my blue legged hermits together in the front of the Aquarium and added some frozen mysis shrimp there, and they all dug in. I have noticed some things that I have never seen before in my life... I saw a snail all of a sudden crawl out of the deepest part of my sand bed...never seen it before. I found another hermit there, and I thought I only had three.

I have some questions, there is a tiny worm kind of looks like a centipede in my live rock. He does come out a lot, but only on the outside of that little hole. He doesn't seem to be doing anything bad.
The four hermits decided to clean algea off of each others shell too. And if the emerald crabs, I suppose "eggs" do hatch.. will they survive? ( I don't really want them to right now )
My mushrooms grew twice the size.. or strecthed themselves.. I don't know :p And theres some new tiny zoas on the live rock.
Theres also these tiny roach type of things in the tank. All these bugs are safe here right?
A piece of mysis shrimp landed on my Ric and it ate it. I'm wondering if thats good for it?

This is just really interesting to me :p

Alright here is the supposevley aptasia again, I got the picture right in the center of it:

One of my mushrooms is covering one small one, its getting no light at all so it'll probably die soon.
I'm defenetley going to get a peppermint shrimp as soon as I can. I know aptasia is like the only thing that will grow on the acrylic besides the algea, and I have two of those there. Really tiny.

Got some pictures of the hermits and how the mushrooms grew.

Heres some set of pictures of the hermits fighting for the last piece of mysis:

What is this wormy thing?:

Forgot to ask.. what is this one?:

Looks like the suspected aiptasia might be a yellow polyp...but i really can't tell with such a blurry pic.

The third picture in the first post is certainly zoanthids...I miscounted :)

the fish you like are all good nano fish, but I think that the green stripe goby is a little large for this tank. the clown and red striped goby (trimma) are good chioces, tho the clown might get a little big. neither will pair w/ shrimp, and neither will swim much in the open water colum, but both are small, and cute. if it were me I would go w/ the red stripe, because it stays smaller, and is a little more active. the clown goby will sit on rock or coral all day, and only dart out to get food.

no idea wht the worm like thing is, first thought was bristle star, but after looking at pic I dont think so. the shrooms likely just expanded, after being stressed. the mysis landing on the ric is good, they can just filter feed like shrooms, but feeding them promotes faster growth. the "aptasia" seems to be just a long tenticled type zoo, a yellow polyp sounds about right.

Thanks moon. I noticed something during lights out, I saw a centipede, yes a centipede looking thing, about 3 inches big just come out and grab a small piece of mysys shrimp inside of the sand. I couldn't see its full body but I would say about 3 inches big.
Is it reef safe?

That centipede is a bristle worm which will help keep your tank cleaner by eating detritus and uneaten food. They are a mainstay in reef aquariums

Thanks. There is about two of them in here. I'm getting my shrimp tomorrow. :) I forgot what it was called.. It has gold in its name though.

Wondering something else.. :p
Can I make my saltwater before adding it to the tank? Like putting it in a lets say 10 gallon container, and then whenever I do my waterchange I can just add it on there? Or does it have to be made during the water change?

Yep I do top-offs. I did one yestarday.
So I'm just double making sure here.. I can make the saltwater like a month before the water change.. and I can still use it.. right? Just double making sure.. don't want anything going wrong.

the wormy thing might be a baby serpent star i have 8 of them in my ten gallon i got a rock that had a few healthy hitchhikers

the last picture could be aptisia or some sort of polyp

the other suspected aptisia looks a bit like a yellow poly to me no sure though.

Yeah the wormy thing does look like a star. I took a view from up top and its arm gets wider inside of the rock. I have more than 1 of those tiny arms sticking out. They won't die in there and make an ammonia spike will they?

cute! pepers are nice, but I have found mine to be very allusive. he came out for about a week, then disapeared (today I found his empty skin, must have molted). they are other wise cute tho. dont be startled if his color starts to fade to near white. this is normal, and happened after acclimating mine. look for his side to side dance. really cute.

Mine was bold as they come...he used to attack my hand.

And my frogspawn...which is why I no longer have one :)

Thanks for the replies.
This guy was really faded at the store. I love his side to side dance too! There was another one in there, but I only got one. (hence the 3 gallon tank)
Friday I gotta call and ask if they have a coral banded shrimp. They had a gold, but it got sold. After that, I looked threw a thread on the nano reef forum about gobies and pistol shrimp. Its my same tank, with all the fish I want. I'm only going to get one, maybe two. For sure on the hi fin red banded goby, and maybe the brown clown goby. I put some mysis in the tank, and I didn't know zoas ate mysis :p
The crab decided to come out and eat too! The peppermint shrimp took a peek outside, but I don't think he'll be eating today.

Have a question about my feather duster.. How can I get it to stand up straight? Can I glue it with something?
