Well wife and I just decided. I am going to build a tank in the basement family room. Tank measurements are 72X36 and 24 D will hold 269 gallons sump fuge and water change tank will hold aprox 160 Gallons, but I am going to have a wave tank of about 30 or 40 gallons more so I should have a total of aprox 469 gallons
Also going to use closed system for circulation I do not want any pumps in the DT
NOW I HAVE SOME QUESTIONS
#1 how many gallons can I have for a wave tank I would like to go big any ideas
#2 what are some name brand names of good tank paint for the wood parts. See I will have glass on front and two sides the rest will be 16 ga. black Iron and wood. So I will have to paint some of it.
#4 How many drains can I have in the overflow would like to have 3 seperate 1.5" pipes

ok enough for now
any comments will be grately appreciated good or bad
Thanks Manny

Can't really help you with the first question. But as for the paint I would use a good enamel paint, I have used a Home Depot brand on my last project and it has held up great.
Three 1.5" drains are fine, why do you want to run them separate? I would tie them all together once they leave the tank. Save some plumbing. You could increase it to 2" out side the tank.
What are you planning to use for your return pump? Internal or external?

I may have explained the returns wrong. That is what I will do I just want 3 in the overflow so the water is moving all over the return. Because it will be the length of the tank I do not want dead spots. and thanks that is what I was figuring a 2" with all three returns tied together. I am planing to use all external pumps for return and for closed loop.
I read on this sight that the paint was food safe of something like that.
thanks
I thought no one wanted to give me the answers I am looking for
Thanks again Manny

I am taking my time on this one so I will have the time to plan each step and that will give me the insight from here and on my own to do the right things long before it is up and running
again I appreciate all the input you all have
Thanks
Manny
