Starting tank #2. 24x24x14 from 14g biocube.

Purchased a 14g biocube with the intent to have a couple clowns and a couple corals... I just graduated and haven't started into my intended field, so money is tight, I managed to seek out really good deals, and even had some very generous members donate things to add some life to my tank, which free is always appreciated. Got my clowns, two ocellaris(I think, but really have no idea), a yellow clown goby, emerald crab, hermits, snails and a few corals. Upgraded lights, flow etc...

Then I decided I want something bigger. Picked up a 24x24x14 frag tank that was drilled in the bottom a bit off center. It was free when I purchased a massive bucket of salt off craigslist. Capped off the bulkhead and plan to cover it with LR. 24x24 is common for bathroom cabinets, so I'll be using one that's unfinished for my stand eventually. Until then it's sitting on a table I had laying around the ranch.

- For filtration I'll be running a ac70 with intank mediabasket running chemipure, and purigen, and going to rock the little aqualife 115 skimmer which should be fine with three juvenile fish for now.

-Flow will be from a jebao wp25. This thing moves a serious amount of water but should work fine on low.

-35lbs of sand so far, and about 29 gallons of water fit after the sand. I have about 10lbs of sand I'll transfer over from the biocube. So roughly a 2-2 1/2" sandbed.

-ordered a cerameco pico gratto, and a cerameco small arch, as well as I'll be transferring over my LR from my biocube.

The plan is to get it up and running with a overkill of a filtration system, because I have a 61x18x24 115g that I will eventually be moving the sump and such to and making this tank a colorful frogfish sanctuary.

I figured I would also add a Wanted section in here to consolidate.

Looking for;
-Star polyps
-clove polyps
-Sexy shrimp
-Xenia
-coco/feather duster
-blue spot goby

For some reason I can't edit my original posts. So I'll just add on.

Looking for Dragons breath macro algae.

Hmmm interesting...

Well I got some cerameco rocks in a couple days ago. Moved some LR over and 5g of water from my biocube when I did a WC.. Been watching my perameters and it's been all zeros.

Got everything swapped over tonight... Decent pita, I can't imagine transferring large tanks. The clowns seemed to have buddied up a fair amount more than usual and are exploring the tank side by side, which is rare that they swim together. They also seem to really dig the wavemaker.

I was at FishPros today and came across a juvenile Potters Angel and once again fell victim to instant gratification. Didn't help that Jason gave me a great price on it and I also had a credit. So it's a new tank and already fully stocked(for fish anyways) with two juvenile clowns, a clown goby and now a potters angel.

I've heard that but also read where plenty of people went years with them as model citizens. I figured if I'm going to risk it, it's better to do it now while my coral collection is small, rather than have him destroy expensive stuff. He's in the tank that will become the frogfish sanctuary when I get the 115 going so he better behave.

I like your rock layout and the amount of open space. Still trying to figure out the direction I'm headed towards with my future setup.

Thank you.. In theory it really should have more LR for filtration, but with only four small fish and a few inverts, plus a small skimmer and weekly 5g water changes, I think I'll be more than fine. The open space also leaves a lot of options for different corals if they happen to come on larger chinks of LR which was my main concern.

Well the potters angel turned out to be a total arse hole to my little clown goby so he got evicted. I think I'll stick with a firefish and/or watchman goby until I move to my 115g

So glad to hear the wp25 worked for you! I have one still in box and glad that the wave looks nice due to having almost the same dimensions :) Nice clips also!

Thanks. It's a lot of flow for this size tank, but I'd rather have too much than too little. Cool thing is is that it will work well in my 115g also.

Looking for a better hob skimmer if anyone has one laying around or sees a good deal on one. Something like a aquac remora. Like to keep it under about $80

I think Carlos may have one since he will be upgrading to the larger tank. I'll let him know.

Thanks man I appreciate that, however I just bought gonzalez78's tank stand skimmer etc, and already had a sump... Then I broke the tank... So basically I just need a return pump and a 40breeder or something with the same footprint(36x18) 50, or 65 and I'll be up and rolling with a decent setup.
