Starting up a 720 Gallon and seeking suggestions in Miami!

Maybe throw pvc pipe instead of the metal and there must be plastic housings for the outlets? Then add the cover to that and we should be able have it secured?

You can definitely get plastic housings at Home Depot or Lowes and of course pvc piping. But you then have to still worry about salt creep and humid inside the outlet...only way you can solve that is isolating it as much as you can. Plexi with robber grommet boxes should work. Look at marine/boat outlets and see what's available.

i doubt any electrician will redo the work for free. cover it with a weather proof box? clean that outlet often and use it for minor equipment.

This is what I was thinking. All my electrical
Is on those 4 outlets.

plug the APEX there and extend the EB8 outside the cabinet. I think you will be fine. I use 1 GFCI per EB8 just incase it trips

I agree with the comments the others have made regarding the cover. That cover will replace the galvanized plate that's currently around the outlets. For all of the exposed conduit as well as the box around the outlets I would just paint it with this:

The one thing I did find concerning was how close the wiring and outlets are to the floor of the stand. You need to make sure that in the event of a leak, water will not pool and reach the electrical outlets.

The stand is not compeleré we are adding a area on the outside of the sump which will be the circuit board. It will have a door on the side where the over flow. It was my intention to have all my apex, reef link and power supplies organized there.

Why did you run EMT/conduit? I didn't look through the whole thread yet if it was explained sorry.

Use a plastic box, similar to what you would mount for an outside receptacle and cover it with one of those covers as suggested.

Anyways I can't wait for this to finish.

I thought that was what the electrician was gonna do but surprise. I asked him if this stuff was gonna rust or get messed up after it was done. He said no problem.

Looks like set screw... any marine application needs compression fittings for EMT; needs addressing if it is set screw. Definitely replace those boxes with bell boxes and in-use covers, if anything. If you can, run schedule 80 pvc, but EMT is still safe with comp fittings. 2gang with romex same suggestion.

Do you think having the covers on will help with that

Glad he is coming back. Have him elevate the lines nearer to the top of the stand vs. the lower portion.

Hey guys can anyone recommend a place to buy acrylic rods. I want sturdy and also exact type and amount. Nothing too exact I'm just not good at figuring out which one is good and how much Inwould need. Thanks in advance

I bought rods on Amazon before. most have Prime shipping

I think you have enough Emarco, no need for acrylic rods. what type of structure are you thinking for rods? I only used them when I didn't want a fat stump of cement as the base.

I wanted to have them on standby. Didn't want to have to stop preparing the aquarium because I was missing anything. I assume they are affordable? I have a idea of what I want. Three Islands each between 2-3 ft tall. Large arch somewhere maybe 2. I have about 500-550 lbs of rock. Mostly shelf and Branch. Also bought some pukani and fl dry live rock. Once I'm ready to fill the tank I'll
Order another 150-200 lbs of nice decorator LR which will seed both systems. I want to leave lots of caves and in between the islands alleys for fish to swim from one side to the other.
