Steely's Mr. Aqua 17.4

Finally got around to moving my 20H out and the contents to a new Mr. Aqua 17.4.

Keep in mind the Acans should get about a 1/3 to 1/2 a size bigger. They still were not inflated all the way after aquascaping earlier. Let me know what you think.

I did have to buy the goose neck separate for the kessil. It's pretty sturdy but on a narrow tank like this I can't quite center the light because of how rigid the goose neck is. The corals have been under this light for about a month now and have done well. I've seen some growth on monti.

I've been meaning to take the aquaclear off the tank. The filtration from the liverock alone is good enough. I plan on replacing the powerhead with an mp10 at some point when I have a bit more cash.

Hopefully this last set of photos was a little better. I used standard mode on the camera which is less blue. It's accurate. Got one more to add. The maxi mini is so bleached from the last couple months that it shows so white in the pic. It's more yellow now.

Still needs some fish.

Feedback is welcome even if you think it looks like crap. :)

Tank looks great! I love those Kessil blue's - the color spectrum is great and they really make coral colors pop. I tend to agree that filter isn't needed for a tank with no fish, but once you add a few of those dirty suckers I think you will regret having only LR! Just my 2c.

+1 on that! I don't know about you, but have you seen a filter pad after about a week? Yikes! That's stuff going around in your aquarium.

I agree. I've done other tanks of this size with fish that have used just the AC filter and have done fine with water changes every two weeks or so.

I have also run the contents of this tank in a 20 for close to three months with nothing more than a powerhead and well established liverock. I would feed a cube of frozen maybe once a week for the corals and the bioload was no issue. That was also with no water changes for two months but also no fish to add to the bioload.

Adding fish is a different story. The constant bioload would require a little something more for the tank. I ran a 20 with fish/sps/lps/softies for a year with just a power filter/chemipure. Growth was great. No skimmer required. I don't plan to run a skimmer with this tank but will probably keep the AC filter with some carbon or chemipure on line. It all depends on if I decide to add fish at this point.

Hope that clarifies things.

Thanks guys.

I am impressed with the mr. aqua tanks. They have a very clean look to them and I don't notice any sloppy silicone like some people have complained about with them.

I've been considering one of the Mr Aqua tanks for another tank later. I've seen mixed reviews on the silicone. I'm considering the 25 cube but will be a while... still working on the 75 gallon. Just now getting around to stocking it. Nice tank and corals.

Thanks feh. I've got no complaints at all with silicone job
on my mr. Aqua. It's got a super clean look at all the edges.

Sick looking lobo, I've got one that seems to be exactly the same color but it doesn't pop nearly as well as under that Kessil.
