I have sent many corals to Bart and have many more to deliver, as well as fish that have been spawned and raised at Atlantis.
Good to see corals going into the tank.
I look forward to seeing the tank as well.

I somehow knew joe would be involved somehow. I guess you don't build the biggest reef tank in the country without consulting the people who have the next biggest ones. I think they said they won't be adding any wild caught coral. Thats pretty awesome.

My seven year run will now be over for having the biggest reef tank, but if it was good enough for Lance Armstrong then good enough for me
I do enjoy seeing these larger tanks coming on line now knowing that my tank had paved the way and has shown that big displays can be done.
It will be nice to watch them grow in over time.

Thats why I'd like to go in the fall to see it. I'll be in Southern CA in June for a week visiting my Dad for Fathers Day.

The display wont be done till Sept. So I'll be going to CA twice this year.

It will be a long time before they have more polyps

When you are funded by the city, etc it is much easier to pay for all the lighting/ cooling, etc of such a big tank so from an economic viewpoint, I don't know how I would be able to pay the inherent costs of such a tank. That is a major challenge for AMW as we don't have city, state or federal money available to pay the bills, we need to make it happen ourselves.

That said, a larger system that can also support corals may be on the horizon at some point for AMW so stay tuned...

Nah, pretty standard stuff with public aquariums as most have the support of local gov't agencies, etc.
Some get free electricity, etc or are under city budgets for payroll, etc.
It is uncommon for a public aquarium to be privately owned.

yeah, always good to dream and a big tank that can also support corals can be done. Then its just a matter of PPG (Polyps Per Gallon)!
