Does anyone else find themselves particularly addicated to something? I mean beyond the whole reefing thing in general? Since getting my first wrasse, I just want to get more. Something about these fish is very interesting to me. Problem is now they have a mystery wrasse at a LFS and I find myself stopping everyday to visit. My fiance' kill me if I bought it, but gee, it is a pretty fish.
 
Mystery Wrasses are quite rare, and take it from a Mystery Wrasse owner, very fun fish to have. Probably my favorite fish in my tank...

With a Mystery Wrasse in your tank, you'll find another fiancee in no time. Just use the pick up line "I have a Mystery Wrasse" to any person who knows even a little about saltwater aquariums...and there you go.
 
hahaha... The Mystery wrasse would be less hassle than the fiancee..

Why's your fiance against the wrasse? :) Is it the fact that you can't ID it (may cause problems later) or it's expensive?

I find myself more addicted to zoos lately. I used to have a really soft spot for my octopus, was kind of addicted to that... and I love wrasses also, they're just so curious and outgoing. What's this one look like?

I think the more you talk and think about it, the more likely you are going to be to find yourself back there, wallet in hand....
 
sorry to take this, but a mystery wrasse is a kind of wrasse, she isnt saying that they have one and they do not know what it is. These kinds of Wrasse's are very expensive and usually pretty rare...

I had no idea! That gets my vote for the worst common name for a fish, ever.

Reefer1: "What kind of wrasse is that?"
Reefer2: "It is a Mystery."
Reefer1: "Hmm... might not be reef safe...."
Reefer2: "I know its reef safe! It's a Mystery!"
Reefer1: ?!?!?
 
Well, I just think it's a shame that men in our day cannot purchase anything of value for themselves without getting heck to pay from the "better?" half. As long as the $ is spent on her, she'll not complain. I bet if you tacked a zero onto the end of the price of that wrasse, prestochango'ed it into a diamond, you'd be a hero for bringing it home.

Bhaaaa! Purchase your wrasse! If a significant other has any issues with your passions, you better recognize the tip of the iceburg. If someone really cares for you, they'll support your passions/obsessions. Life is too short for a ball and chain!

LOL. First of all, that was posted by a reefer of the female presuation (or so Id assume by the name). Secondly, Im guessing your wife must keep that whip close'n'handy, huh?

Just remember, when in doubt, say, "Hunny, I could spend all the money in the world on this reef tank, but I'll never be as beautiful as you".

That should keep the lashings to a minimum for a couple hours. Or possibly til valentines day, if your lucky.

hey now, it works both ways. maybe you should get her a nano and get her into the hobby. (female reefer here) i could spend my whole check if i wanted too, only if i buy my husband someting for his nano or for his truck... =) then i'm in the clear.
 
i'd say get it... she will understand.. They are amazing fish and if the price is right 150-200$?? then hell... i wouldn't hesitate ESPECIALLY if its eating and looks nice... those white bars always get my attention. I've sold 2, and i have had a tough time letting both go.. lol

The problem is that I have two other wrasses in my 90 and shrimp in my 125. Wetwebmedia indicated that mystery wrasses should be compatible with other wrasses. Thoughts?

TECHIGIRL78 ---> Is a female as the name so implies.

Just me, but I don't think he'd care for a diamond. He did like the 55" HD TV with the Surround Sound System though.

Captain, I think you need to reread the original poster's name! LOL

The tables were turned in this case. And to flip around some more stereotypes, I really make my bf return expensive frivilous gifts for me, also. I actually ended up returning the diamond earings he got me for Xmas, just didn't tell him so as not to hurt his feelings, and bought him something with part of it, and probably the rest of the money went towards corals, lol. If you marry someone for which $$'s a priority, don't expect her to change either!
