Steve Weast Tank Is Gone

For you folks that don't hop over to the SPS thread Steve Weast has posted he lost his big tank. If you dont know who steve is I included a pic and a link to his site. The bottom is a link to his post it seems he had a minor problem go entirely wrong.

What test kit do you use that you can measure Ca without influence from the Mg and stronium?

I looked at the perodic table and Mg, Ca and Stronium are all in the same column.
 
OMG That sucks so bad.. I loved his tank. He has a very well thought out setup to.. Goes to show you that even the best setups crash if you get in a hurry! I'm sure he will have it looking great again.

Big Goose,

Mg, Ca and Sr are all in the group II of the periodic table as you described. They are alkaline earth metals and share similar properties including the number of electrons in their outermost shells. While some of them in the same group react with similar elements (Mg, and Ca react with halogens, sulphur, phosphate, nitrogen) they do react with different elements and therefore they can be tested by different test kits.
