STILL A NEW TANK BUT THIS BROWN ALGAE AND FUZZ ALL OVER THE LIVE ROCK IS TERRIBLE. TRIED SEVERAL WATER CHANGES, ALGONE. BEEN AT LEAST A MONTH. HAVE ALSO CUT BACK LIGHTING. ANY IDEAS?? THANKS BRANDI

I WAS READING SEVERAL OTHER POSTS AND WE ALSO USED TAP WATER BECAUSE WE NEVER WERE TOLD, NOW IT IS ALL RO WATER AND READINGS ARE GREAT. IT'S JUST SO UGLY!! THANKS

Use a phosphate reactor $38.00 keep using algone and get some turbo snails---hope you are using RO/DI water - rocks will be clean n clear n happy in just a cple of weeks:D

all new tanks usually have algea bloom at the start

It took my tank about 6 month before it really started to stabalize. It's all part of the new tank maturation process. Remember that nothing good happens fast with reef tanks.

This is normal for a new tank. Don't add any additional equipment. Just keep the skimmer running and change 10% of your water weekly. If the tank has finished cycling, it's time to add a cleanup crew. Pick up some turbo, astea, and cyrith snails along with a fighting conch or two. The turbo snails will eat the brown algae on your rockwork in a matter of days.
