Still not eating

It has been a week my black puffer still will not eat.

Should I move him to a tank by himself?

what have you been trying to feed it? Usually crayfish are best for a picky puffer just to get him to eat

Have you tried using any Garlic to entise his eating?

the stress of moving him to another tank could make the situation worse, that is unless there are too many other competitors for food in the tank
how is the weight of the fish? can you post some pics?
typically puffers can go on hunger strikes for several weeks, but i would contimue to offer food during htis time. i would only become concerned if the fish starts to lose excessive weight.

yes I have large pieces of rock in the Q.T tank

I just bought a product from SeaChem called 'Entice'. You can soak food in it, or just add some to the water at feeding time. I was skeptical, but it works really well with my picky angels. Not sure if it would help with your puffer, but maybe worth a shot.

I would say he is a bit on the lean side, but not too emaciated to lose hope yet. the entice product is good, smells like bananas. i would leave the light off on the tank, an dmake sure that the puffer not only has rock but CAVES puffers need houses and if he does not have what resembles a "dog house" to hang out in he may be a bit stressed.
let the fish store know what is going on so that you may have hope of redeeming some credit if all of your efforts fail. was he eating at the store?
