Any surge device stresses the seams of a tank, this is discussed in the manual. As a general rule, if you have a new tank, from a reputable name brand manufacturer on a sturdy, level stand. There is no reason to be concerned. I know of only two tank failures and one tank was assembled the day before (DIY) and should not have even had water in it and the other was an old tank that had been moved several times and large tanks are greatly stressed just by draining, moving and filling. Typically it will be a catastrophic failure where an entire side seperates, I have seen several tanks fail when I worked retail and a pinhole leak is very rare, typically a whole seam gives or an entire panel folds away. All the tanks I saw do this were pre wavebox, but this is generally how tanks fail.
