Sting Ray issue

I have a Sting Ray in my 180g tank for like 3 month.
The tank runs for few years, and is a reef tank.
He is always the first to be there when I am feeding the tank.

Few days ago, we notice a red spot on his tail, that got worse and know his tail looks like somebody bite it or it got chewed.

I don't have any aggressive fish in my tank (I have tangs, percula, cardinals and Bi-color angel).
Since we notice the tail issue, he stopped eating, and most of the time he stays in the sand or up (like he is standing on his tail)

I am afraid he will die, since he is not eating.

I tried several times to take a picture of the tail with no luck.

Any ideas?
What can i do?

Thanks in advance.

What type of ray? I have a Cortez in my tank and had a similar issue. When mine was buried in the sand, the tip of is tail was sticking out. It had a red spot on it. What I found was it was a blood speck and it dried and cleared up in a couple of days. I am not sure but it could have been a pistol shrimp i had because he was buried next to where the shrimp lived. Mine never quit eating though. The best way to try and help is with a pic of it.
