Sting rays

What is the best way to trim a sting ray's barb so it cannot sting someone and it wont pop a bag? I know this is a weird question. But I own a local fish store and am looking into getting them in the neer future, just wanted to know ho to trim the barbs.

According my local aquarium curator, he trims the rays in the touch pool with a simple toe nail clipper. Also like toe nails, the barb will grow back in a couple of months.

Ok this way sounds a little over board, but i have cone cutters A.K.A. coral cutters. Since they are around can I just use those to nip the ends. The other thing I need to know is how to hold on to the slippery little guy.

When I worked at my LFS we got them imported from Brazil. What the locals did down there was, they cut a inch or two long piece of plant stem ( I don't know which kind ) and stuck that on the barb. Some of them put airline tubing over the stinger, but when you pull it off the skin comes off with it sometimes resulting in infection. With the plant stem it simply decays off in a week or two.

You can use toe nail clippers to trim smaller rays bigger ones good pr of side cutters, to keep them still wet heshian sack has enough weight to keep thier tails down with hole cut in it to access the barb

you probably shouldn't transport saltwater stingrays in standard bags, styrofoam boxes with box liners works better for freshwater rays i know for sure, though i can't say anything about saltwater rays
