stinging cucumber

Has anyone ever been stung by a cucumber? I have one that has split into 4 now and I have never had it sting before. But tonight it did. It is just a little dark drown spiny but sometimes a little greenish. Like a little pickle that has been left out too long. That is the best way to describe it. If you have been stung did it cause you any real illness? Let me know. I can feel it like a thorn ***** off a rose.

I realize I should have wore gloves, but was throwing caution to the wind and putting two of them into another tank. They have been great for part of my cleaning crew. They do not eat my corals.

Leah, Are they Tigertails Cuc's If so they should not sting! Maybe there was a Bristle worm or something on It you didn't see? I pick mine up and throw them In different spots all the time!

What kind of cuke is it? Pics? I have one like poolkeeper's, dark green with light green stripes, and I've never seen it do anything aggressive. It all depends on the species you have though, some can be very toxic.

Oh, okay then I don't have one like yours :). It must be a donkey dung then (tbsaltwater.com only sells 2 different kinds.) Anyway, never been stung by mine either.

I've got a couple, too, and have never been stung. They stick pretty bad to you if you touch them with their 'mops' out, but nothing worse than that.
