STN Duration

About 1 1/2 months ago my tank start crashing. It had been doing very well. The crash started when I tried feeding one of my fish food medicated with Metro. I'm not sure if it was the medication, the higher amounts of food or the fact that I started using carbon in high quantities in a reactor for the first time in an attempt to pull out any Metro in the water column.

Whatever the cause my tank reacted badly and I lost a lot of SPS to RTN and STN. My monti caps had bleached and looked awful but survived and are growing at a nice clip again. Some corals that were on their way out are starting to recover.

The strange thing is I'm still losing the occasional coral after all this time. My green birds nest is not going to make it. It keeps looking worse every day even though a Birds of Paradise close to it has continued to grow through the entire event. A pink birdsnest had stopped growing during the crisis but now has growth tips and is looking good.

I have gone back to feeding once every other day like I used to. I bought an Apex after the event. Temp is stable at 81. I'm dosing 2 part with pumps every hour to keep alk and calc stable. Alk = 9.2, Calc = 450, Mg 1430, SG = 1.026, pH 7.9 - 8.3, phosphate 0.02 using Hanna. I use an ATO to keep SG steady.

Is this a typical thing with STN? Is it possible to have latent reactions to tank events like this? How many more months can I expect this to occur?

hmm...i would think this sounds like something bacterial, although montis can be the first ones to react to too much carbon dosing
