stn frags!!!

so after about 2wks now and lots of reading, i believe my frags have stn. not sure what all caused this but im sure a few things altogether helped. i have 65gal display tank with a 30gal sump. cal 410, mag 1300, alk10, nit 0, phos .16. after i noticed something wrong with my tank i did an 80% water change and 6 days later did a 15 gal water change. i believe maybe i didnt keep parameters stable. i also was overfeeding i think, and i had some hair algae and bought some vibrant reef cleaner and used more than recommended. i think all these have to do with my frags dying. well, i think at least. i will try to put pics up tomorrow since i'm an idiot and cant figure out how. hahaha have to wait for the gf to help me with that. haha i read that superglue helps? i cut one of the frags where the best part was and it seems to be ok, not progressing yet at least. think i am going to have to do it to the others as well. frustrating, but my own fault i beieve

Using any chemical cleaner is risky. You alk is a couple of points high. Phosphate reading in the presence of algae is higher than corals like. Stability of mounting, stability in water, all matter extremely.

From what I can tell your params match a ulns with to high of alk. 0 nitrates is bad, want at least 2-9ppm. Also not sure what your nitrates were before you dosed vibrant but it will cause your nitrates to drip out quick which may have contributed, read a lot of people have had that problem with it

sorry for the delay in my response been sick and being a baby. haha
i have always had 0 nitrates, well since i got the tank established that is. thought that was good. then i read that it wasnt and that was what prompted me to more feeding but i think i went completely crazy with the feeding though. still having an issue getting my phosphate down some more but it slowly getting there. i agree my stability is a problem as well. i keep it stable but not stable enough i think for sps. i have some sps frags that are stn. well one is gone now i think and the other is on its way. i did cut the good part of one the corals and it has not progressed since. i will have pics up by tomorrow to give a better idea. also think my lights were too low as well.

Recently when I had some sps start to stn it was an issue of the alkalinity being too high, it was at 10.2, anyway, once I got it down to 8 and it held it there the stn stopped and colors on other corals that had faded started to return. If it were me I'd start with getting the alk down and keeping it stable and see how the corals respond from there. As to the lighting, if they're not getting enough I think they'd brown out before they saw stn, but I've been wrong before so someone please correct me if that's not right.
