Stn where there's a dead end....

I seem to be having some random stn. It seems that when an acro bases out that if it has no where to go I.e end of a frag plug with nothing underneath so a gap before rock work iykwim that it starts to stn. I've had this on a few pieces and have tried to putty round it down onto something.

Is that normal? I suppose if a base has no where to travel to it will die back perhaps?

alk burn sometimes occurs on tips like that.. whats your dkh?

No burn on the tips but the base. Alk is always around 8.
