Stock ideas for the 125 reef?

I'm preparing to remove my desjardini tang as he's been to much of an issue and has been preventing me from repopulating my tank as he kills everything new. So I was wondering stock ideas for once I remove him.

So far I have
3 ocellaris clowns (one bonded pair the other guy stays away)
A hoevens wrasse
Mandarin goby
Fire shrimp

I definitely want to add a diamond goby, Bangai cardinal pair, and a carpenters wrasse

Any other reccomendations would be appreciated, thanks

If your wanting small fish I wouldn't.

They get pretty big.

Yea I just researched and I don’t like the idea of feeding 2-3 times a day. Any fish you can recommend?

One of the things I tried to do is pick fish with different habitats or behaviors.

Anthias would be good for the upper part of the tank and open water areas. Just pick ones that stay a little smaller.


How about something like a Royal Gramma for lurking about in the rocks?

If you don't care about inverts like small shrimp/crabs and feather dusters, you could consider a Longnose Hawk.

What about a fairy wrasse like a neoko or one of the smaller fairies?

I really don’t have a size limit I just wanted to keep as many fish in their without messing with the tanks bioload.

You don’t think the adding to many wrasses will mess with my mandarin? I do have a rock rubble pile in the back which I seeded with 4 bags of pods.

So to refresh, I currently have
3 clowns
Mandarin goby
Hoevens wrasse

I think I’m gonna add
2 cleaner shrimp
A black cap gramma
Bonded banggai cardinal pair
Diamond goby
Carpenters flasher wrasse
And a tomini tang

How does that sound? (The tank is 125 gallons)

I have a pair on COnvict tangs and they are always on the move but will get bigger. Also, a six-line wrasse is interesting. But most interesting in my tank is the coral banded shrimp, he seems to have had a couple of friends with the tangs as he cleans them.

No that’s the list that’s already in the tank. I have 3 clowns cause I was uneducated at the time and the guy told me I could have 4 clowns. So of course, a pair killed one and now the other just keeps his distance.

If it's Halichoeres chrysus you're talking about, then that is a near perfect all around fish, imo.

The only potential problem would be your already established melanurus wrasse (hoevans). I think it will work in a 125. I would just add it soon before the melanurus gets too big. Think about using some kind of acclimation box too.

I would add a couple chromis as well. They are one of the few fish that is always out swimming in the water colum. They might fight each other initially but won’t bother any other fish

You could also add a Midas Benny if you are looking for something with a unique look/personality
