Hi,

cause the thread about stocking list is no longer supported I would like to hear your opinion on wrasse in 50gal

My intendend stock list Would be:
- blenny (E. stigmatura)
- LSD mandarin
( - Filefish, only perhaps)

Was thinking of adding 1-2 wrasse. Which One would be possible in 50gal?

Michael

Yes, one of these.

McCosker's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus mccoskeri)

Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse (Paracheilinus carpenteri)

Just one wrasse or would two be possible? What about a Cirrhilabrus be possible too? In addition to a flasher wrasse.

Is that your entire stocking list?

If it is you might able to do a pair (female/female) or (female/male). Depending on size of wrasse.

Yes this would be my entire stock list. I heard that most wrasse pairs will become male/male sooner or later in captivity and then you need a large enough tank. Cause of that I was thinking about two different species.
But if it is Not possible so it will be :)

some other suggestions to the stock list above with one flasher or fairy?

A smaller Cirrhilabrus would work, such as a lunatus, pintail, rubriventralis, most flashers would work too, just not the eightline flasher. Having three wrasses should work. If you have only two, one will dominate the other, three provides mixed social interactions.

Just do plenty of research before the Mandarin purchase. They are a challenge to keep regardless, but even tougher in a tank as small as yours. There are hundreds of threads on this website about this. I initially wanted one when I got into the hobby a year ago, but after doing research and knowing what is involved for them to thrive, I realized it was a poor decision.

Hi,

I already had a mandarin in my bigger tank, so I know of its special diet.
But I think as long as there is no rival fish it should be ok. Although the LSD is eating frozen most likely, afaik.

Back to the stock list . I think 3 wrasse would be too much , also I dont Know if I can get the smaller fairy wrasse here in germany.

Main idea it my stock list was to keep less Fish but fish with interesting behavior.
Considering this perhaps a flame or longnose hawkfish would be nice too. I do not plan to have shrimps or small gobies, so this should be fine. Or perhaps a pygmy wrasse?

What do you think about this stock list:
- E. stigmatura or midas
- LSD mandarin
- flame/longnose hawkfish or(and?) pygmy wrasse
- filefish

Would this be too many "big fish"?
