Stocking help for 120gal please.

What do you'll think about my stocking list.

These are the fish that I already have:

1 Yelloweye Kole Tang 4"
1 Naso Tang 3" (going back to LFS for store credit)
1 Pearly Jawfish 2"
1 Possum Wrasse 2"
1 Bluesided Fairy Wrasse 3"
2 Blue/Green Chromis 1"
1 Lyretail Anthias (male) 4"
2 Ocellaris Clown 1.5"

This are the fish that I would like to have over the next 6-9 months.

1 Blue Throat Trigger 4" (getting this one today with the store credit from Naso Tang)
1 Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse
1 Radiant Wrasse
1 Pink Margin Wrasse
2 Lyretail Anthias

I know that the list look long, but most of these fish will be fairly small with the Trigger and the Kole Tang being the biggest.

I'm open to all comments good are bad.

It sounds alright to me, just not sure about the combination of all the wrasses. I can't say from personal experience on them.

I had a Carpenters Flasher Wrasse, Clown Fairy Wrasse, and a Exquisite Fairy Wrasse in a 40 breeder for 2 yrs with no problem. I'm crossing my fingers hoping that I'll have the same succes with them in the 120 gal.

Is your tank a reef tank? If it is, the Blue Throat Trigger will eat all your inverts. Also, Lyretail Anthias are supposed to be added at the same time since you already have a male it may not work.

Blue Throats are reef safe. There could be an exception, but the majority are safe. I've had mine for 6 - 8 months now and it bothers nothing, CBS, Cleaner Shrimp, Misc. Snails, BL Hermits, Corals, etc. This species are planktonic feeders.

I was told the only thing that is at risk with the Blue Throat is my cleaner shrimp. Since the shrimp is in the tank before the Trigger there is a good chance that it will no t eat the shrimp.

Mine doesn't bother mine and they were tiny when I got them. They even share the same cave.

IMO 15 fish in a 120 might be a bit much. I have a 120 (4x2x2) with 6 fish and it already seems crowded. I can't imagine what will happen when they start to grow.

I have 2 ocellaris clowns, royal gramma, purple tang, blue tang and blue jaw (throat) trigger.

Its only been a month but my blue jaw does not even notice the 7 shrimp I have in the tank. He does go nuts over anything I feed, including noori. An excellent fish, you'll be happy with your purchase.

My theory on fish overcrowding is that as long as: (1) fish have enough swimming room generally - e.g., at least a 4 foot tank for even smaller tangs, etc.; (2) the bioload is adequately taken care of through skimming, water changes, etc.; (3) the fish have enough room to dissipate aggressive tendencies - e.g., a mild-mannered fish in a 210 can be an aggressive terror in a 55; or likewise, a mild-mannered fish in a 120 with four other fish might turn aggressive with 20 other fish; (4) care is taken to ensure that some larger/faster/more aggressive fish are not out-competing smaller/slower/meeker fish that eat the same foods; and (5) the aquarist accounts for the adult size of all of the fish and concludes that there is enough room, then overcrowding isn't an issue. That said, that's quite a lot to account for, and I think the difficulty in accounting for all of it explains the "shorthand" some people try to use (like "x many fish in a 120 is too many" or the more old-school standby, "x inches of fish per gallon is too many"). I think, however, that those shorthand maxims are no substitute for drilling it down and really trying to figure it all out.

Here, the only thing I really see (assuming your system can keep the bioload in check) is that the wrasses might have some aggression issues. There are many people on here, however, who can give good advice on wrasse-mixing.

I would also be sure to add small, female lyretails to your current male lyretail, but I'm sure you realize that.

Incidentally, what do you think of your possum wrasse? I've always thought they are kind of cool and different-looking.

I no longer have the Naso Tang, but brought home a 3" male Blue Throat Trigger yesterday.

JoeMomma, I think you have a medium bio load and more fish can be added if your skimmer is up to the task. I do agree with you that 15 fish might seem alot for a 120, but I do have an over size skimmer. I think my fish list might be alittle too much, but base on the kind of fish I plan on having i'm not sure. That's why I want everyone to give me their opinion.

Mrwilson, I am kind of worry about the Wrasses, if anyone with extended experience please let me know if it's a good idea or not.
Mrwilson if you can get a Possum Wrasse....get one. At first I didn't see it much, but after 2 weeks of being in the tank he is all over the tank looking for food.

Quis, the fairy wrasse's (Pink Margin Wrasse, Bluesided Fairy Wrasse) will get along fine with your flasher wrasses (Carpenter's Flasher Wrasse). The only thing that might pick on them is the Possum wrasse. The Radiant wrasse does not pose a problem with the other wrasses. I have a Female Bluestar Leopard Wrasse, Male McCosker's Flasher Wrasse and a Male Eightline Flasher Wrasse in a 120g.
