I have a 30L with a 20L sump. I am running a total of 35G of water. I have over 30X turnover, closed loop is over 22X by itself the return makes up the rest. I am running a skimmer rated for a 65G tank, a DSB filter, filter sock, and a fuge (cheto). How much fish (inch wise) could I keep in this tank. I want to have as many fish as I can and still keep everything cool. My fish list is:
3 red firefish
3 pajama cardinals
1 tomato clown
1 yellow tail damsel
1 six line wrasse
None of the fish are messy eaters and I will be able to feed once per day. What do you think of the list? To much? Full grown it is a total of 29 inches of fish.

Your fish list would SERIOUSLY overload a 55 gallon tank. Any inch/gallon rule is pretty much worthless, but the old standard was something like 1 inch/5 gallons.

With your size tank, you'll be really pushing your biofiltration if you have more than 2 or 3 fish in it. PJ Cardinals can get rather large, Tomato Clowns can also get really big, for the species and a yellow tail damsel will get MEAN as heck in a tank that size. The 6 Lined Wrasse would probably beat the heck out of your firefish.
