I would like some more input on what to get as I am looking to start stocking my tank. For those who don't know I have a 75 gallon bare bottem tank with about 50 lbs of live rock. I also have a 29 gallon sump that is holding about 25 gallons of water. the sump has about a 10-15 gallon fuge with a deep sand base and some cheato (or whatever that plant stuff is that is good for the water).

Please give me ideas of what you would change or what I should keep the same, as well as if I have to many fish or not enough for my bio load. I plan to upgrade to a 125 in 1-2 years.

ok what about this list

1 Annularis Angelfish (Pomacanthus annularis)
1 Saddle Valentini Puffer (Canthigaster valentini)
2 Ocellaris Clownfish - Tank-Bred (Amphiprion ocellaris)
2 damsel black and white stripe
1 Humu Picasso Triggerfish (Rhinecanthus aculeatus)
1 Blue Tang (Paracanthurus hepatus)

ps: Does anyone know what that fish is that looks like a juvinile angel (blue, purple, white stripes) and doesn't change?

Not sure if you're planning on going reef but if you are I'd def. skip the Angel.

Also that fish will get very big faster than you think. A 75 may get pretty crowded with that fish in there.

I don't think the puffer is the best for the reef either. However, the say that about the Picasso and I've had no troubles whatsoever with mine. He eats from my hand and other than that, minds his own business. It might help that everyone else in the tank appears to be afraid of him. :)

I know I'm afraid of them! I was attacked and bitten by one while on a dive! Definitely a very territorial fish.

About the tank. I'd say you will probably be OK as long as you arent keeping coral in the tank.

The hippo will get too big eventually. I also have a blue hippo tang in a 75 gallon tank. I think he is starting to get a bit cramped in it. He will ram his head into the side of the tank sometimes. I can hear the noise on the other side of the room when he does it.

You might be better off with one of the zebrasoma species.

Oh, and dont forget, if you have a puffer and a trigger, you wont be able to keep small fish or inverts like shrimp or crabs in the tank or they might be lunch.

Thanks for the input everyone. As for right now and probably for the next 2 years I will just have a fowlr tank...no corals yet as it is to expensive. My wife and I have decided to try really hard to wipe out all our debt. It is really to bad about the shrimp and trigger. I would have liked to get some shrimp but I think I like the huma huma trigger more. I also have about $50 worth of snails/hermit crabs in my tank right now so I guess I will have to get rid of them first. Does anyone want to buy some snails or hermit crabs?

What else could I get instead of the trigger and puffer? Do I have any room for more fish on top of what I have listed? What order do I need to add these fish in? I really like the juvenile angel fish that are blue and white striped but know they get to big to fast. I thought there was a kind that stayed that cool blue/white stripe into adulthood and stayed smaller but I don't remember. The angel I have listed shows on drsfostersmith that they only need a 70 gallon. Any thoughts?

I'd recommend you buy this book
