20 g fish only aquaria
I have set up a 20 g tank, which has 1" of live sand and 10 kg of live rock. It has a red sea prizm skimmer on it as well, with pumps for circulation.

It currently has 6 hermits in (snails going in later this week) , and also has one bangaii cardinal in as well.

What i would like to know is how many fish people would reccomend to put in there and which, as i really like the 6 line wrasse, occelaris clowns, Scarlett hawkfish, green chromis and will be having no corals in there.

It currently has a colony of green mushrooms in there at the moment and am going to frag some corals from my 48 gallon, so that i dont have to buy any for it.

Any help and other suggestions would be much apprecited.

u can put a lot in a 20g. i have 6 fish in mine-i no that is way too much but i got a deal on them and i was in the prosses of buying a new tank- funds got short and i ended up haveing those 6 fish in there for 3 months now they all seem very happy and i have a super skimmer 65 in it to take kare of the bio load
i have an anthies a trigger 2 white tailed damsels and a clown all eating and swimming happely

i do not segest putting that many fish in urs though

what type of Trigger???

nice fish, but get too big. You will just have to set up a bigger tank for him...lol

i hate my trigger is an ungulated. all he does is hides all day and at night he picks all the snails off the rocks. i am trying to get rid of him but i cant cetch him. just get some damsels a clown but i would say no more than 4 fish

i would take the undy out ASAP. they are notorius for chowing down on corals and other fish. all most everyone that has an undy has him in his own tank or ends up giving him away. they hide a lot in the beginning but once they get braver they will eat every fish/coral in your tank.

I have a 20 gal with a 10 gal sump + skimmer and I would say that dont go over 3 fish ....may be add the 4th after 6 months. You will find it amazing how much waste they will produce and for such small volume of water you will need to do a lot of water changes each week. Best to add 1 or two fish to start with and as the tank settles in add the third one. My personal opinion is the number of fish is not an important thing to enjoy your tank. Best to have few fish and make them happy.

I have a twenty gallon reef tank with four fish. I think that it is a bit much in a reef. I am up grading to a 55 gallon within the month. I do a water change every week to be safe. In a fish only, 4 small fish are OK as long as you don't overfeed. 6 is way too many in that size of tank. I concur with the others that recommend finding a new home for the trigger.
